I wake up this morning and grab my phone. As I’m laying in my bed, I feel my phone vibrate and I look to see I have a new text message from a number I don’t recognize. Confused, I asked who it was and I immediately got a response back. It was you. You were testing out the new text app on your iPod and decided to try it out on me. I love waking up to good morning texts. We got into our usual grove, talking about random stuff. You called me your smokin hot Asian and then randomly asked if I wanted a truth is from you. I agreed and a little later I got one of the most sweetest messages from you.
Truth is, you’ve been my favorite girl this year! You’re always so funny and I always enjoy talking to you. You’re the most beautiful girl at school and I’m glad I got to take you to Prom this year! What I can’t wait for is to finally see you swim so I don’t have to keep bringing it up, but I can’t wait to hang out with you over the summer.
You’re my best friend. How did I get so lucky to have you walk into my life?
May 13, 2012 (12:00 a.m - 4:00 a.m)
The minute the last song ended, I rush to gather my belongings and join my friends at the door. We walk out reliving the moments of our Prom. As we get into our cars and drive away, I take a look back at smile to myself. I get onto Facebook and realize I have a message from you from earlier. You’re making fun of me on how I spilled food on my dress, telling me to have fun at Prom and that you can’t wait to hang out at After Prom. Little did I know, that everything would change between us that night. Our friendship would involve into something more, something that neither of us were expecting to happen. I rush on home and quickly change into my After Prom clothes, not bothering to do anything else. I drive to the club and realize that I’m the first of my friends to arrive. Feeling awkward, I grab some food and sit at one of the tables by the door, munching on my pizza while I observe my surroundings. One by one, my friends started to arrive. I turn around and I see that you’re here. Once you get to me, I jump out of my seat and I give you a big hug, inhaling your scent and instantly getting happy. You look at my plate and make a comment on how much I’ve already eaten. We all grab food and eat quickly, then walk around to see what games there are. We wander off to the tennis courts and we immediately paired up together. We tried playing a game, but it didn’t work out as none of us really knew how to play. I ended up laying in the middle of the court, tired from all of the running around. You, being Mr. Helpful, remembered our deal from earlier. You had to keep me awake, no matter what. You pulled me up and forced me to walk as to not fall asleep. We go to the racquet ball courts and our two friends decide to play each other. I lay down on a bench and start dozing off, you sit on top of me and put all of your weight on me. You get up, then wander off, running back to tell us there was a volleyball room set up. We all jumped at the chance to play. We played a nice competitive game. However, I ended up sitting in a corner because you were all being mean to me. We wandered around After Prom for a while, playing the various games and activities they have set up, and you constantly having to make sure I’m not sleeping, doing all you can to keep me awake. Around three, I started to become very tired. We went to get drinks then went back to the racquet ball courts. You noticed I was walking weirdly, I couldn’t pay attention on how I was walking. Noticing, you grab my hand and walked with me. We passed by a lot of our friends from school and they started to fawn over us. It made me happy. The racquet ball courts were all full so we decided to play volleyball. I shimmed into a corner and started to doze off, every now and then opening my eyes to see what was going on. You took your shirt off, as you were sweating a lot. You then proceeded to throw the volleyball over my head as to scare me to wake up. When that didn’t work, you tried dragging me across the floors and sticking your fingers in my mouth. How abusive … You all pretended to leave me, but you came back for me. We went back to the main room to rest and get some more food. I joined you at the wall and used your shoulder as a pillow. I don’t know how anything happened, but I grabbed your hand and we just sat there holding hands. You didn’t pull away, you didn’t tell me to stop. We just sat there, hand in hand in front of everyone. Right then and there I realized just how much you really meant to me. I liked you more than a friend and I needed you now. When I would talk to you, you would move your lips towards my ear so you could whisper. You would draw small circles in the palm of my hand. At the end of the night, as everyone was preparing to leave, we stayed back. We didn’t say anything. We just stood there holding hands. I gave you a hug goodbye and we both said we had the best night ever. I had the best night ever with you.
